Master weaver Fran James of the Lummi Nation. Fran's Lummi name is Che top ie, and she weaves Coast Salish Indian blankets of wools of the Pacific Northwest, and woven cedar baskets of materials she gathers herself. She stands in front of the cabin in which she grew up as a child, on Portage Island. The cabin was later transported to the mainland, where it now stands on her property on the Lummi Indian Reservation.
